Islamic divorce, khul‘ and faskh: online application

Our Sharia committee handles Islamic divorce cases for Muslims in the UK with care, confidentiality and fairness to both sides, and always tries reconciliation first.

Which application is right for you?

Talaq

For a husband who has pronounced or wishes to pronounce talaq and needs it documented, or a wife who needs a talaq that has already happened to be confirmed in writing.

Khul‘

For a wife who wishes to end the marriage in return for giving back the mahr or part of it, as in the case of the wife of Thabit ibn Qays. The committee seeks the husband’s agreement.

Faskh (dissolution)

For a wife whose husband refuses talaq or khul‘, or has caused harm, failed to provide maintenance or disappeared. After hearing both sides, the committee may dissolve the marriage.

How your case proceeds

  1. You send this application and your documents.
  2. We review the case and send you the fees in writing.
  3. The Sharia committee contacts the other party by every available means.
  4. Both sides are heard, and reconciliation is attempted first, following Qur’an 4:35.
  5. The committee decides and issues a written decision and certificate.

⏱ A case usually takes 3 to 6 months. Fees depend on the case and are sent to you in writing after the initial review.
